Floating homes can move

DSCN0976 Have you ever seen a large floating home leaving for a new home? This video captured the excitement! Floating homes can move!   This home was moored at Tomahawk Moorage for many years. This year it was purchased by a buyer who wanted to live in the Gresham Moorages, so he hired the floating home movers and BAM! Away it went!

Moving a floating home requires a solid home that can withstand the rigors of moving in the current of the rivers. Professional electricians and plumbers disconnect those services and also reconnect them at the new location. It is not easy to find a new location either. Both the moorage left behind and the new moorage must be involved in the move. Vendors need to provide insurance information to the moorages. The cost of moving a floating home is about $3000 to $7000 depending on how far it is being moved.
